Kinja'd!!!

On Tuesday, Lady SonicGabe and I had to take a bunch of crap to our storage unit in Tampa. Upon pulling up to the gate, this was just sitting out.

Kinja'd!!!

A 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Not a super rare, but a pretty cool random find. She looks in pretty good shape, though she needs a bit of cosmetic work. There was a can starter fluid sitting in the front seat, so she probably runs, or at least wants to. Based on the plate, her registration is current, so hopefully that means someone is planning to drive her around a bit. Besides an employee, there was no one else around, so I couldn’t get any info on her. The pics are unedited, presented as they were taken with my iPhone 6S.

Thunderbird and Ranger, 40 years apart.

The ‘62/’63 Falcon had a fake “hood scoop” that was pretending to be like that one - but it’s just a solid lump.

The Thunderbird does have those fake gill-looking things on the side, but they actually look nice.

Yup. But to be fair, the sun shines in other places, too. At least the body doesn’t look like it’s all rusted out from salted, snowy/icy roads.

never have liked investment cars.......

met a guy once, in helotes, at at gas station. he had a 56 thunderbird. he was at the pump. i was kind of gawking at it, as it was cool looking. guy went to start it, and nothing. cranked on it for 5 minutes, til the battery was about dead. guy pops the hood. this was the part of the show i wanted to see....

the car had an original setup, all the mundane, in the way stock stuff that gets thrown away at the first chance, was still there. i asked the guy, and OF COURSE it was still points ignition....... i asked the guy if he had considered swapping it out to an electronic setup(like pertronix). the guy said its all original that would only hurt the “value” of the car. then i said, “yeah, but it’d make it easier to start/drive and enjoyable to put miles on it”

its only got XX,XXX the guy said, more miles would only hurt the value.......

i think we both walked away shaking our heads.......
